Grace Episcopal Homeless Men’s Shelter Meals

Windsor UCC supports the downtown Madison shelter (run by Porchlight, Inc.) by providing casseroles and dessert for dinner the first Sunday of every month (Bucket Sunday). Volunteers are needed to donate/prepare food and deliver it to Grace Episcopal.
See the Calendar of Events for upcoming dates.

DeForest Food Pantry

Windsor UCC houses the DeForest Area Food Pantry. Our congregation, other churches, and community volunteers collect and sort food donations, which are distributed weekly, on Thursday evenings from 6pm-7pm. A grocery cart is located in the south narthex for donations, and requests for specific items are announced from the pulpit and listed in the weekly bulletin

Birthday Bags

The Food Pantry also distributes Birthday Bags to children ten and under. The gift bags contain a cake mix, frosting, candles, books, candy, and an age-appropriate toy. Donations for the birthday bags are always welcome.

DeForest Area Needs Network (D.A.N.N.)

D.A.N.N. collects and merges community-wide donations, screens requests for assistance, and distributes financial support to local families in need of temporary assistance. Areas of need include: utilities, transportation (gas vouchers), medical expenses and rent. Requests for assistance (and donations) continued to grow as nationwide economic stress continues. Community support for this organization remains strong, with fund-raising activities conducted by several groups. Windsor UCC actively supports this local organization through financial donations and volunteer assistance.

Christmas Giving Tree

Windsor UCC coordinates with the community-wide Christmas giving program through D.A.N.N. Gifts for area families in need are distributed at the church the week before Christmas.

WUCC College Student Outreach

Church members maintain contact with college students from our congregation by sending email greetings and finals week care packages at the end of the winter and spring sessions. The program is designed to keep the college students and their families connected to the church and supported spiritually during a time when many students discontinue church activities.

Evangelism Ministry Team

Team members continue to distribute visitor packets to those who have visited our church for a Sunday service, and to greet guests. Visitors are encouraged to sign the guest book.

Stephen Ministry

Stephen Ministry is a program which provides one-to-one Christian care to the bereaved, hospitalized, terminally ill, separated, divorced, unemployed, relocated, and others facing a crisis or life challenge for as long as the care receiver needs it. Stephen Ministers participate in bi-weekly continuing education and supervisory sessions as long as they remain active in the program.
